Morgan

Meet Morgan! If you’ve been following New Hope Foundation for any time at all, you probably recognize her smiling face and famous dimples. Born in 2018 in the Henan Province, we have had the honor of knowing, loving, and caring for her for most of her 8 years—and what a joy those years have been!

Morgan has grown into a curious girl with a wonderful sense of humor and a love of learning. Whether she is mastering a new game, learning a new song, or practicing English words, she is always eager to discover something new. One of her favorite English words is “Oops!” after discovering it in the book Blue Hat, Green Hat. Now, whenever something gets dropped, Morgan is quick to giggle and say, “Oops!” herself.

Her determination shows up in many of her favorite activities. Recently, she has become interested in wooden frame puzzles and often wants to complete the same one several times in a row, even when it is challenging. She also loves games, especially hot potato played to the tune of current popular Chinese songs. Even when she is the one left holding the “potato,” she remains patient and cheerful. Her caregivers often comment on how well she handles changes in plans and how willingly she waits her turn.

Like many children who come to our Hope Healing Home, Morgan’s young life has not been without challenges. Yet what stands out most is not the hardships she has faced, but the resilience she brings to each day. Whether she is working through a difficult puzzle, learning a new skill, or adapting when plans change, Morgan approaches life with perseverance and an eagerness to keep trying.

That same patience and thoughtfulness can be seen in the way Morgan cares for the people around her. She enjoys sitting with her friends, holding hands with other children, and looking out for those nearby. She is quick to say “thank you,” loves hearing “I love you,” and happily says it in return. Morgan also enjoys reminding others to use good manners and never forgets to say “please.” She has a love for order and routine. When it is time for a meal or a new activity, she carefully puts away her toys, gathers her materials, and makes sure everything is in its proper place before moving on. She even likes to keep track of the day as it passes by checking the clock.

At the same time, Morgan has a wonderfully playful side. She enjoys animal finger-puppets, matching them to pictures in books, and inventing new ways to play. Recently, she discovered that flashcards made of felt would stick to her hair and she happily made herself a “hat,” later testing her invention on one of her caregivers as well!

This spring, Morgan greatly enjoyed peony season. She delighted in holding the flowers, smelling their sweet fragrance, and admiring their bright colors. It was the perfect time for her to show off her flower clips. She is always curious what others think, carefully adjusting them until they are just right.

Witnessing Morgan’s story is a reminder of the love, hope, and care that every child deserves. Our prayer is that many more children will have the opportunity to experience a nurturing environment and to know they are deeply valued and delighted in. We are grateful to watch Morgan grow, and we look forward to all the new things she will continue to discover in her life ahead.
