December 2018 Newsletter

To Comfort always, to Relieve often, to Save sometimes
December 2018
Dear Friends and Supporters,

We hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas holiday and we wish you a very Happy New Year! We have had the pleasure of spending this holiday season with several of our children and grandchildren on Penang Island off the west coast of the Malay Peninsula.

2018 brought with it many changes and challenges for NGO’s in China, but we are grateful that despite these challenges and changes, we continue to be able to provide care for so many orphaned children here in China. As 2018 has come to an end, we look back with gratitude at all that God has done and we look forward with anticipation at all He will do in 2019 and beyond.

In 2018:
155 children were admitted or re-admitted into our care
56 children were adopted or we discovered were adopted
163 hospitalizations or surgeries were needed
24 children passed away
We are so thankful for each of you and the part you play in the work of New Hope Foundation and in the lives of the children we are privileged to care for. Whether you give financially, gather supplies, sponsor a child, visit our home, volunteer, adopt or are a faithful prayer warrior on our behalf, we are all a part of this work together. Although it would take ages (and multiple pages) to thank each of you by name, we would like to extend a big thanks to a few people who have supported New Hope in various ways over the past month.
Our friend and faithful fundraiser Gek continues to use her gift of organization to plan and execute great events to raise awareness and funds for our work. During the month of November, together with her team of volunteers in Singapore and Hong Kong, she organized several events where Robin and Joyce were given the opportunity to share the story of New Hope Foundation with several hundred people. These events included two luncheons atStreets of London, Xcellink’s company dinner (Xcellink also sponsored the printing of 1,000 of Joyce’s most recent book, Children of Hope) and an event at Megan’s Kitchen in HK. In December, she shared about New Hope at an event at Jus Infants Infant Care Centre’s year-end party, with a focus on Child Sponsorship.

Beijing expat Bec Taylor organized a “Reverse Advent Calendar” to help gather supplies locally. This idea was so popular that it was even featured in one of Beijing’s expat magazines.

The ladies from Beijing’s Riviera Rotary who, with some extra help from friends, came to decorate our home for Christmas. It is always such a joy to see the wonder in our children’s eyes when they walk past the brightly lit Christmas tree each day.
Friends from Oasis Fellowship in Beijing came to spread some Christmas cheer with our children and nannies through song and dance.

Volunteers Rochelle, Linette and Renzo, who came to help with and teach our preschool during the month of December.

There are so many different ways to be involved in our work and it is our hope and prayer that 2019 will bring more opportunities for people to be involved in the work God is doing here. If you want to know more, visit our website for more information and please feel free to spread the word!
With Grateful Hearts,
Your friends at New Hope Foundation
