To Comfort always, to Relieve often, to Save sometimes   February 2018 View this email in your browser Dear Friends and Supporters, Happy New Year and xīn nián kuài lè!  All of us at New Hope have been enjoying copious amounts of jiǎo zi and fireworks, wishing you all grace and peace in the coming year. This past month we were blessed to receive a group of moms from the U.S., most of whom have adopted children from China.  We are grateful to have had the opportunity to hear their stories and consider the ways in which our care can have a...

MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR! Dear Friends and Supporters, As Christmas will be here in just a matter of days, we’d like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! As most of you know we have had to change our heating this year to a gas-fired boiler due to new government regulations. We knew that this was going to be an expensive change compared to the coal fuel that we’ve previously used, but we had a shock this month upon receiving our first month’s bill. After only 1 month we realize that it is going to cost us USD...

Dear Friends and Supporters, Fall is in full swing here and we’ve enjoyed the changing leaves and cooler weather. Our foreign staff enjoyed a lovely Thanksgiving together, complete with turkey and all the fixins’ and we’ll soon be decorating the home for the upcoming Christmas holiday. As you can see from the photos, the preschool children have enjoyed some time outside exploring leaves. They’ve been learning about colors and the changing leaves have provided them a great way to experience new colors as they’ve learned about them in class....

Dear Friends and Supporters, We hope this letter finds you all doing well. As temperatures have dropped this month, we find ourselves very grateful once more for the ways in which God has provided for us. As many of you know, we’ve had to switch to a gas boiler this year as coal burning is no longer allowed in our village. We are very pleased that our new gas boiler is installed, running and now paid for. A very special thank you to all who gave to cover the costs, and especially to J & A in Shanghai. It was a team effort, and we...

Dear Friends and Supporters, It is hard to believe that summer is quickly coming to a close and that autumn is nearly upon us. The children have had a blast swimming this summer and got to enjoy a few last weeks of swimming before the month’s end.   We were happy to welcome one more volunteer this month. Wen has been a big help already with swimming and preschool and is currently in Hong Kong accompanying one of our babies who is awaiting surgery at Hong Kong Adventist Hospital. We are very grateful for Wen’s willingness to help in this way...

July 2017 Newsletter

Dear Friends and Supporters, July was a bittersweet month for us here at New Hope. We had some happy highs, along with some sad lows. We are grateful for the large number of adoptions we saw throughout our Beijing and Henan units, but it was also very sad to see some of the babies we have cared for leave us here in Beijing this month to return to their orphanages. Many of the children had been with us since infancy and had all received treatment; our hope is that going back to their orphanage will encourage the Children’s Welfare Institutes...

June 2017 Newsletter

Dear Friends and Supporters, We would like to thank you all for the tremendous support that you have given us this year. Unfortunately, we find ourselves in a position financially that we cannot sustain the current number of babies that we care for. It has been decided that we will, over the next 2-3 months, reduce the number of babies cared for in our units by around 50 babies. Currently we care for 285 babies; this change will reduce the number to 235 which will put us in a much better financial position for the future. We know that on the...
