House of Hope
Luoyang is located in the central Henan Province, just 2 hours west of Zhengzhou. The greater Luoyang area has a population of roughly 6.5 million people. Situated on the central plain of China, one of the cradles of the Chinese civilization, Luoyang was one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China.
Our facility in Luoyang, Maria’s Big House of Hope (MBHOH), is the largest facility in our network and at the moment has 54 beds. The building itself is 6 stories tall, of which the first 3 stories consist mainly of nurseries and the 4th and 5th floor has Preschool and Physical Therapy areas. The 6th floor has accommodation for long and short-term staff and visiting groups. This unit is funded 100% by our partners Show Hope. MBHOH has been in operation since the summer of 2009 and we have cared for over 1,100 babies in this facility alone. MBHOH functions as the center of our work in Henan.
All our Special Care Centers care for some babies that are not expected to live and also babies who have medically correctable conditions for whom we find best local medical solutions. We do not take this responsibility lightly and are very grateful that the local Children’s Welfare Institutes have entrusted us with their care.
